LANGTON MATRAVERS CLT - Update _ 20 AUGUST 2024

On behalf of Langton Matravers CLT I would like to thank everyone who attended the public meeting in July. The CLT is now in its seventh year of existence. Our aim from the beginning was always to build affordable homes to rent for local people to rent at an affordable rate. It's taken a while to get to this point because of a lack of available sites and of course the impact of COVID.

Langton Matravers CLT has been very fortunate in being able to work with the National Trust and to reach an agreement with them to provide us with a piece of land to build potentially ten homes at the Western boundary of the village. It was great to see a keen level of interest at the meeting with great questions asked by those present. I hope people felt their questions were answered. Key issues for a number of people were around who would have the opportunity to live in the properties once they are built. We can not say at this point how the homes will look much will depend on how the land can be used and that will require further investigation.

Next steps will be to explore the viability of the site drawing up plans with an architect and working towards a planning application. After that the CLT will hold another public meeting and the community will have the opportunity to comment at a second public meeting before a planning permission application is sought.

Browse our Website for more information on the CLT.

LMCLT Public Meeting 18 July 2024

On the evening of 18 July 2024 Langton Matravers CLT board members attended the village hall to give a presentation describing the work of the CLT and its progress.

During the presentation we explained that we have been searching for a plot of land on which to build affordable homes to rent since 2017. It has been a long, slow process but finally we were able to reveal the potential site next to Capston Field (shown on the right). The yellow shaded area is not included and there would be a new access from the High Street.

Working for the local community the CLT could only continue with the project if there was support from the Langton Matravers community. The support demonstrated by those that attended the meeting means that the CLT will move forward with explorative work on this site.

Next steps will be to explore the viability of the site, before designing the homes and working towards a planning application. The community will then have the opportunity to comment at another public meeting before planning permission is sought.

The CLT would like to thank those who attended the meeting and showed an interest in our project and look forward to updating the local community on progress on this website and by other forms of media. Watch this space!
